- If you have any problems with water sprays or splash pads, please call 617-466-4209
- Visit the Chelsea Senior Center and the Chelsea Public Library, which are air conditioned and open to the public. The Senior Center is open Monday-Friday from 8:00am-4:00pm. The Library is open from 9:00am-8:00pm on Thursday, and 9:00am-5:00pm on Friday and Saturday.
- Stay Hydrated: Drink more water, regardless of how active you are. Don’t wait until you’re thirsty to drink. And Keep Your Pets Hydrated too!
- Schedule Outdoor Activities Carefully: Try to limit your outdoor activity to when it’s coolest, like morning and evening hours. Rest often in shady areas so that your body has a chance to recover.
- Eat foods to help you cool off, such as fruits and frozen treats.
- Never leave children or pets alone in a closed vehicle.
- Practice sun safety. Wear sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and loose-fitting, light-colored clothing when you go outside.
- Spending a few hours in air conditioning or cool water can help reduce your body’s temperature. A cold shower or bath helps cool your body by lowering your core temperature.
- Recognize & respond to heat-related illnesses. Learn how to recognize heat exhaustion and heat stroke at: https://www.cdc.gov/disasters/extremeheat/warning.html#text
