Aging and Independence

The Elder Services Division identifies the needs of the city’s multi-cultural, over 50 years of age population.  Elder Services designs, implements, promotes and coordinates new and existing health, wellness and nutrition programs for those 50+ in the community to enjoy.  The Division insures extensive outreach to linguistic minority communities within the city, as well as other difficult to reach adults, and provides equal access to services and programs.  The Division operates the Chelsea Seniors Center offering services and resources that enable participants to develop their strengths and function productively and independently in their homes and in the community. Services are also provided for those who are frail, homebound or handicapped, in coordination with Mystic Valley Elder Services (MVES), the regional agency on aging. The City will always continue to acknowledge the value, dignity, diversity and wisdom of its older residents.
