Applications for the Second Round of the CHELSEA EATS Program are now open!

Funded by The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds, the Second Round of Chelsea Eats Program is open to all income-eligible Chelsea residents who meet the program's criteria, regardless of their immigration status: 

  • Be a Chelsea resident.
  • Submit a fully completed application
  • Your household income must be at or below 30% of the HUD Area Median Income (AMI). To know if you qualify, please check the table below.

Families will receive a card based on their household size to help them buy food and pay utility bills.

The City will hold a weighted lottery to select the new recipients. All cards distributed on the program's first round are expired and will not be reloaded; recipients must reapply to be entered into the lottery. 

All eligible applicants will be entered into the lottery. Preference will be given to applicants with children under 18, disabled residents, veterans, seniors 65+, families who are ineligible for other forms of government assistance, families with a female-identifying head of household, families with a member self-identifying with a minoritized/marginalized gender-identity. 

DEADLINE: The deadline for applications is January 6, 2023 at 12pm. 


HOW TO APPLY: 

  • Online: Applications in several languages are available at www.chelseama.gov/chelseaeats.
  • Hard copies are available at City Hall, Office 101, during business hours (Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 8 am to 4 pm, Tuesday 8 am to 7 pm, and Friday 8 am to 12 pm). 
  • Dial 311 while you are in Chelsea (or 617-644-4209) during office hours  (Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 8 am to 4 pm, Tuesday 8 am to 7 pm, and Friday 8 am to 12 pm).
