This June we invite you to celebrate the rich diversity of the City of Chelsea!  There are also many programs available to help you take care of your mind, body, and soul.  All events are free of charge.

Paint night with Sury Chavez

Friday, June 18, 2021 (6:00 to 9:00 pm), Chelsea Square

Spend the evening with artist Sury Chavez around the fountain as she walks you through the creation of your own painted canvas. Sury Chavez’ art appears all around Chelsea from the “Welcome to Chelsea” signs on Fourth Street and Everett Avenue to painted murals in the interiors of several area restaurants. Enjoy live DJ music too.

Community Paint Day: Winnisimmet Street

Saturday, June 19 (10 am - 4 pm)

Join us for community paint day at Winnisimmet Street on Saturday, June 19 as we celebrate Juneteenth.  Juneteenth (also known as Freedom Day) commemorates the emancipation of the enslaved in the United States.  No experience is needed, we will paint-by-numbers. Music on the Square

Saturday, June 26 (5 to 8 pm). Rain date: Saturday, July 10   

Enjoy live music performances on Winnisimmet Street in Chelsea Square this Summer.  On June 26 our lineup includes the Afro-Cuban all-star band Lookie Lookie featuring Chelsea resident Russ Gershon, African jazz performer Albino Mbie with his band, and more!  When you are not dancing, we invite you to enjoy our seating areas for dining al fresco.  Bring your dinner or help support our local restaurants.

#ChalkArtSaturdays

Saturday, June 26

Chalk Art Saturdays started in the Summer of 2020 amid demonstrations for Black Lives Matter.  Local artists and community members were invited to make chalk art in public spaces in support of BLM.

This summer local artists will be invited again to create Chalk Art Murals at 3 prominent locations.  The first #ChalkArtSaturday will take place on June 26. Residents are invited to participate in their neighborhood.  Stay tuned for details.

The Best Street Art in Downtown Chelsea

Explore Downtown Chelsea and you might discover one of the many murals commissioned to beautify the City.  This summer, an 80 feet long mural will be installed in Bellingham Square.  The mural will be designed and painted by world-renowned artist David Fichter.  This Chelsea Heritage Mural will illustrate the diversity of people who have called Chelsea home over the last 400 years.

Join the Chelsea Public Library for virtual weekly session of simple and fun activities to encourage mindfulness and relaxation in children! Mindfulness can help kids overcome challenges, take care of big feelings, and act with kindness towards themselves and others.  Sign-up for one or for all by emailing kpalencia@chelseama.gov

Fit After Fifty 
For Adults Ages 55+ 
Tuesdays June 8-July 27 (10-10:45 am) Virtual & Free.

There are so many benefits to exercising when you are 55+, from improving your mental health to reducing serious health risks.  Register for this new program to help get your heart pumping and total muscles moving, and improving your balance.  Low impact intermediate level.
