Acceptable and Unacceptable Trash

Acceptable Trash

The following items are collected through regular trash as long as they are placed out correctly.

  1. Household solid waste
  2. Tires (MAX 2, rims must be removed)
  3. Empty paint can (Latex only, must be dried out and opened up)
  4. Electronics (Other than computer monitors & Tv's)
  5. Lawn mowers & other motor devices (Remove gas and ail tanks)
  6. Gas grills (Remove propane tanks)
  7. Bikes
  8. Microwave
  9. Toasters
  10. Toilets
  11. Swing sets
  12. Doors
  13. Windows (If glass is broken, place in box)
  14. Carpet (Must be under 4Ft long, rolled up and tied)
  15. Furniture (Limited pick up, Max 2 items per week), such as:
  • Dressers
  • Couches
  • Tables
  • Chairs
White Goods Stickers

The following items will only be collected through the White Goods program. To dispose, residents must purchase a sticker at the Treasurer's Office at Chelsea City Hall Room #213. Sticker must be on item for pick up.

  1. Televisions
  2. Computer monitors (Rest of computer is acceptable for trash)
  3. Air conditioners
  4. Refrigerators
  5. Freezers
  6. Washer & dryers
  7. Dishwashers
  8. Ovens
  9. Stoves
  10. Hot water heaters / water tank
Unacceptable Trash

  1. White goods items not on the list
  2. Yard waste (Except during scheduled pick up days)
  3. Mattresses & Box springs 
  4. Textiles (clothing, bedding, kitchen and bath towels, and footwear)
  5. Pipes
  6. Tree stumps
  7. Propane tanks
  8. Flammable items
  9. Explosives
  10. Compressed gases
  11. Fluorescent bulbs
  12. Non latex paint products
  13. Dirt
  14. Rock
  15. Cinderblocks
  16. Cement
  17. Any other construction debri materials
  18. Radiator or any other plumbing items
  19. Car bumpers
