Sergeant John A. Cowhig
John Cowhig joined the Chelsea Police Department in April of 1990, shortly after serving eight years with the US Army Military Police Corps. He has served as a patrol officer and as a DARE officer. In 2003 he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and was assigned as a patrol supervisor on the midnight shift. In 2004 Sgt. Cowhig was reassigned to the Professional Standards Division where he currently serves as the department’s Information Technology Coordinator.
Sgt. Cowhig is actively involved in efforts to regionalize both voice and data communications amongst area public safety agencies. He maintains all of the department’s technology resources; is an advisor and technical coordinator for the city’s surveillance camera project (ChelseaView) and is the administrator for the police department’s website.
Sgt. Cowhig has a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice and is department certified as a motorcycle officer and public records officer.
