Chelsea Police to Closely Monitor Bars, Social Clubs and Restaurants during World Cup

The Chelsea Police Department announced today that they will closely monitor all restaurants, bars and social clubs that show upcoming World Cup Soccer matches.  The police department cites two assaults on police officers last month at bars that were showing World Cup preliminary matches involving Mexico. In both cases, officers were assaulted when trying to restore order after the games ended and some patrons became rowdy. Both locations owners have been ordered before the Chelsea Licensing Commission for conferences later this month. The Chelsea Police are anticipating large crowds at establishments and house parties when certain countries play during the tournament that begins Friday June 11th and ends July 11th.  Police warn they will strictly enforce laws for overcrowding, alcohol violations and disturbances at or near licensed establishments and will bring violators before the Chelsea Licensing Commission to face additional penalties.

Chelsea residents are reminded they can provide information anonymously to the Police Department by  calling the 24 hr Crime Stoppers TIP line at 617-466-4880 or  texting the word Chelsea and then their message to tip411 (847411) from their cell phone. Anonymous web tips can also be submitted right from the Police Departments website at www.chelseapolice.comte Headline here ]
