Police Investigating Two Sunday Night Stabbings

Chelsea Police Detectives are investigating two stabbings that occurred within minutes and in close proximity to each other last night. Chelsea Officers first responded at 11:53 P.M to 221 Shurtleff Street and observed a 30 year old Chelsea resident in the street suffering from at least nine stab wounds to the chest and abdomen. The victim was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital and is listed in stable condition after surgery this morning. Officers then received information of a second victim a short time later. The second victim a twenty five year old Chelsea resident was driven to the East Boston Health Center by a friend and later transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital for non life threatening wounds to his abdomen.  The second victim told police he was stabbed on the corner of Shawmut Street and Central Avenue. Both victims gave different accounts of their attacks but state it was a lone male assailant. Chelsea Detectives are looking into the possibility that both crimes are connected and are continuing the investigation.
