Police Investigating Watts Street Shooting

Chelsea and Massachusetts State Police Detectives are investigating a shooting that was reported in front of 16 Watts Street Thursday evening. Chelsea Officers responded to an 11:27PM call of a gunshot victim in the street at that location.  Responding officers observed a twenty eight year old Chelsea resident suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Witnesses state the victim was sitting on the front porch of that address with a group of friends when two males approached on foot and opened fire on them. The assailants were both described as young males and both wearing “hoodies”. Both suspects immediately fled the area on foot. Evidence recovered at the scene indicates that multiple rounds from two different firearms were fired at the group. The victim whose name is not being released was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital and is listed in critical condition.

Chelsea and State Police Detectives assigned to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office are continuing the investigation.

Chelsea residents are reminded they can provide information anonymously to the Police Department by  calling the 24 hr Crime Stoppers TIP line at 617-466-4880 or  texting the word Chelsea and then their message to tip411 (847411) from their cell phone.
