Police Arrest Three Suspects, After Standoff At Chelsea Home

The Chelsea Police Department arrested three men Sunday after an armed robbery turned into a four hour standoff with police at 258 Spruce Street. Police originally responded to a call for an armed robbery and attempted carjacking on Spruce Street at 7:54 A.M. The responding officer was told by the victims that at least three armed suspects ran into 258 Spruce Street. The officer believed that the suspects may have forced their way into the home and feared a potential hostage situation.  Chelsea officers were able to direct the family with small children out of the Spruce Street home and bring them to a safe location while they secured a perimeter. Due to the escalating situation, Chelsea Police requested the Boston Police SWAT team to assist in clearing the home for suspects.  Chelsea and Boston Officers removed each suspect individually during the course of the four hour standoff. The following individuals were placed under arrest for Armed Robbery, Attempted Carjacking and other charges and will be arraigned in Chelsea District Court on Monday morning; Louis Santiago age 24 of Chelsea, Edward Funes age 35 of Revere, and Jose Parada age 19 of Saugus. Chelsea Police Detectives executed a search warrant for the Spruce Street home and recovered a hand gun and jewelry believed to have been taken in the robbery.
