Police Investigating Shooting of 17 Year Old

Chelsea Police and Massachusetts State Police Detectives are investigating an afternoon shooting that left a 17 year old male from Chelsea in critical condition after suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head. Chelsea officers received numerous calls for shooting in the area of 71 Essex Street at 4:16 P.M. Officers arrived and found the male victim unconscious in a nearby driveway. The victim, whose name is not being released, was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital where he is currently listed in critical condition. Witnesses told officers that unknown males drove up in an older grey model Honda to where the victim and group of other youth had gathered and fired several rounds as the group fled. Chelsea and State Police Detectives assigned to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office are continuing the investigation.
