Police Make Arrest in Monday Night Shooting
Monday – Chelsea Police Officers arrested a 26 year old Chelsea resident and charged him with a multitude of charges including; Assault with Intent to Murder and Unlawful Carrying of a Firearm after an argument on the street turned violent last night. Officers responded to a report of shooting in-front of 129 Marlboro Street at 11:50 P.M. Monday night. Upon arriving, officers were met in the street by a 44 year old Chelsea resident suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The wounded party and witnesses directed officers to 123 Marlboro Street where the suspect was observed entering the rear third floor apartment. Officers entered the apartment and arrested Hector Vargas-Garcia age 26 of Chelsea without incident. Officers also recovered the firearm believed to be used in the attack. Witnesses reported to officers
that Garcia had words with the victim on the street and during the encounter pulled out a firearm and fired one shot causing the injury.
The victim whose name is not being released was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and is listed in stable condition after surgery.
Garcia was arraigned in Chelsea District Court this morning on several charges and is being held on $50,000 bail.
