Chelsea Police Department Arrest Man After Vehicle Crashes into Restaurant
Sunday October 4th—At approximately 3:45 AM, Chelsea Police officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle that collided into the side of Pollo-Campero restaurant on Park Street. Upon arrival, officers observed a black Toyota Camry with heavy front end damage and structural damage to the building. Officers spoke to the operator later identified as Marvin Villanueva age 23 of Chelsea. Mr. Villanueva told officers he lost his control of the vehicle he was driving along with a female passenger and struck the side of the building. Both were uninjured in the collision.
During the conversation with Mr. Villanueva, officers formed the opinion that he operated the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. A check of his license status revealed that he was not legally licensed to operate a vehicle in Massachusetts. Mr. Villanueva was placed under arrest at the scene and transported to the Chelsea Police Station. During the booking process, Mr. Villanueva registered a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of 0.16, twice the legal limit of 0.08. The building was deemed safe and the restaurant was cleared to re-open by the Chelsea Fire Department.
Mr. Villanueva was arraigned in Chelsea District Court on charges of (1) Unlicensed Operation and (2) OUI Liquor.
