Chelsea Police Seize Firearm, $150,000 in Cash and Drugs in Arrest

(CHELSEA) – Chief Brian Kyes announced today that “excellent police work by uniformed officers and detectives made a huge impact on local drug dealing, making Chelsea a safer community”  On Monday July 27th at approximately 8:30PM Officers responded to 26 Breakwater Cove on a report of a burglary alarm activation, upon arrival they observed the residence door to be partially open. Officers entered the residence to investigate. Once inside, officers observed clear evidence of what is believed to be a narcotic distribution operation. Officers immediately seized control of the unoccupied property and secured a search warrant through Chelsea District Court. While awaiting the search warrant an officer positioned outside the residence observed Jose V. Rivera Candray, age 28, operating a motor vehicle near the residence and acting suspiciously.  After the vehicle was stopped by police, investigators established “probable cause” indicating that Mr. Rivera-Candray was the occupant of the residence and he was placed under arrest without incident.
Officers seized several pounds of marijuana along with several hundred Oxycodone and Ecstasy pills. Also seized during the search was over $40,000 in cash and a firearm.
Mr. Rivera-Candray faces several drug and firearm charges and will be arraigned on Tuesday July 28, 2009 in Chelsea District Court
