Captain Edward McGarry
It is the goal of the Chelsea Fire Department Training and Safety Division to provide and prepare every member of the department with adequate equipment, knowledge, and individual proficiency to function safely and skillfully at every incident we encounter.
The Chelsea Fire Department Training and Safety Division is committed to provide and maintain training curriculum pertinent to current fire related standards through the utilization of internal and external training opportunities. The Training and Safety Division has created a coalition with training entities throughout the local area and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that will enable us to provide specialized training to our department.
The Chelsea Fire Department Training and Safety Division provides training to new recruits, conducts daily training sessions for the Fire Suppression Division, coordinates training on new equipment, provides First Responder and Emergency Medical training and assists in developing and implementation of Department Standard Operating Procedures.
The Training and Safety Officer responds to all 2nd alarm fires or greater, Water Rescues, Level 2 Hazardous Materials Incidents, and Technical Rescue Incidents. His responsibility at these incidents is to monitor the Fire Department personnel to assure operations are performed in the safest manner possible.
