Training and Safety Officer
Captain Edward McGarry
The Training and Safety Officer is responsible for enhancing firefighting skills and techniques. His duties include the following:
- Recruit training
- Daily drills for the Suppression Division
- Training all personnel on new equipment
- Coordinating First Responder and Emergency Medical Care training
- Development and implementation of department Standard Operating Procedures
The Training and Safety Officer responds to all 2nd Alarm Fires, Water Rescues, Level 2 Hazardous Materials Incidents, and Technical Rescue Incidents. His responsibility at these incidents is to monitor the Fire Department personnel to assure operations are performed in the safest manner possible.
